Both the camera drone battery and the mobile phone battery are lithium-ion batteries. The drone battery is the source of power for the device and has higher requirements for its safety performance. However, there is a difference between the two. The drone battery has a significant feature compared to the mobile phone battery --- high rate discharge. The drone battery needs a large current to discharge to meet the requirements of the drone in different environments. For example, in aerial photography, if a strong wind is encountered, the battery must be discharged with a large current to ensure the stability of the drone's position. Because of different requirements, the life of the camera drone battery is relatively short.
Camera drone lithium ion battery maintenance method:
1. Do not over discharge
The discharge curve of the battery shows that the voltage drops relatively quickly at the beginning of the discharge, but the voltage does not decrease quickly when it is discharged to between 3.9 and 3.7V. However, once it drops to 3.7V, the voltage drop rate will be accelerated. Poor control may lead to over-discharge, ranging from damage to the battery, and from low voltage to the bomber. Owners of some drones will over-discharge each time due to fewer batteries. Such batteries will be very short-lived. The strategy is to fly as little as possible for one minute, and the battery life cycle will be one more cycle. Rather, buy two more batteries instead of flying the battery beyond the capacity limit each time.
2. Do not overcharge
1). Use a dedicated charger. This charger can be a lithium ion or lithium polymer special charger, the two are very close.
2). Accurately set the number of battery cells in the battery pack. In the first few minutes of charging, you must carefully observe the display of the charger, which will show the number of batteries in the battery pack. If you are unclear, you should not charge or use a charger you are familiar with.
3). Charge a new lithium-ion battery pack for the first time, check the voltage of each battery cell of the battery pack, if the voltage difference of the battery cells in the battery pack exceeds 0.1 volts, you should charge each battery voltage to 4.2 volts makes them equal. If the voltage difference of the battery cells exceeds 0.1 volts after each discharge, it means that your battery has failed and should be replaced.
4). Do not charge when no one is watching.
5). Use a safe location to place the rechargeable battery and charger.
6). Generally no special instructions from the manufacturer, the charging current should not exceed 1C. Now batteries that support large current discharge also support current charging beyond 1C. However, high current charging will greatly shorten the life of the battery.
3. Do not store the battery when fully charged
Fully charged batteries cannot be stored for more than 3 days. If you do not let them go for more than a week, some batteries will be swelled directly, and some batteries may not be drummed temporarily, but after a few full-charge storage, the batteries may be scrapped directly. Therefore, the correct way is to recharge before using the drone, if the battery is not used within 3 days after use, please charge the single cell voltage to 3.80~3.90V and save. If there is no flight due to various reasons after charging, the battery should be discharged to 3.80~3.90V and stored within 3 days after fully charging. If you do not use the battery within three months, please charge and discharge the battery once and continue to save it, which can extend the battery life. The battery should be stored in a cool environment. When storing the battery for a long time, it is best to put it in a sealed bag or a sealed explosion-proof box. The recommended ambient temperature is 10~25°C, and it is dry and free of corrosive gases.
4. No damage to the packaging
The outer packaging of the battery is an important structure to prevent the battery from exploding and leaking and catching fire. Damage to the aluminum-plastic film of the lithium polymer battery will directly cause the battery to catch fire or explode. The battery should be handled gently, and the cable tie should be tightened when fixing the battery on the drone. This is because the battery may be thrown out because the cable tie is not tight when flying in a big action or crashing, which can easily cause damage to the battery outer packaging.
5. No short circuit
This situation often occurs during the maintenance and transportation of the battery welding line. Short circuit will directly cause the battery to catch fire or explode. When the battery is found to be re-soldered, please pay special attention to the electric iron not to contact the positive and negative electrodes of the battery at the same time. In addition, in the process of transporting the battery, the best way is to put a self-sealing bag on each battery and place it in an explosion-proof box to prevent the battery's positive and negative electrodes from bumping into other conductive substances at the same time due to bumps and collisions during transportation Short circuit.
6. Flight without low temperature
In a low-temperature environment, if the battery is left outside for a long time, its discharge performance will be greatly reduced. If it still needs to fly at low temperature, it will definitely cause problems. At this time, the alarm voltage should be increased (for example, the single cell alarm voltage is adjusted to 3.8V), because the voltage drop will be very fast in a low temperature environment. The battery should be insulated, and the battery should be kept in a warm environment before taking off, such as in a house, car, or incubator. Quickly install the battery when you want to take off, and perform flight missions. When flying at low temperature, try to shorten the time to half of normal temperature to ensure safe flight.
